Inhomogeneities in the local matter distribution generate deviations from isotropic Hubble expansion. Comparison of the peculiar gravity field computed from the local galaxy distribution with the measured peculiar velocity field is a strong measure of the cosmic density parameter. I review the state of play in this important cosmological test.
