We compare the role of the cyclotron emission associated to a cosmic magnetic field, B, with that of the radiative Compton and bremsstrahlung in the thermalization and evolution of CMB spectral distortions. Only for too large values of B(z = 0), larger than ~ 10-6 G, the cyclotron emission may be important and it can be then neglected in the analysis of the cosmological implications of the CMB spectrum observations. We discuss the impact of future absolute temperature measures at centimeter and decimeter wavelengths, where both ground, balloon, and space experiments are currently under study, and at millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelengths, where a significant improvement with respect to COBE/FIRAS has been recently forseen. The exciting perspectives represented by the combination of very high quality experiments at long and short wavelengths, such as those achievable by DIMES and FIRAS II, are presented.
