We show a purely geometrical method for probing the expansion history of the Universe from the observation of the shape of stacked voids in spectroscopic redshift surveys. This method is an Alcock-Pasczynski test based on the average sphericity of voids posited on the local isotropy of the Universe, which acts as rulers of unknown size. We describe the algorithm that we use to detect and stack voids in redshift shells on the light cone. We establish, and test on N-body simulation, a robust statistical model for estimating the average stretching of voids in redshift space. Finally, we discuss the constraining power on dark energy parameters in terms of the figure of merit of the Dark Energy Task Force. We estimate the figure of merit for SDSS, BOSS and EUCLID class surveys. For Euclid, the figure of merit is an order of magnitude higher than Baryonic Acoustic Oscillation based methods.
