Scientific paper

A cosmological model in which the energy density perturbations are seeded by cosmic strings and in which the dark matter is hot (e.g. neutrinos with a mass of 25h250 eV) produces large-scale structure dominated by planar overdensities with mean radius and separation determined by the comoving horizon at the time of equal matter and radiation (about 40h-250 Mpc). The planar overdensities are the consequence of the velocity perturbations in the wake of long rapidly moving strings. As a consequence of dark matter being hot, clustering about cosmic string loops is suppressed, leading to little nonlinear structure between the wakes.
