What is the antimatter content of the Universe? This fundamental question links the fields of cosmology, particle physics and astrophysics. Both theoretical advances and experimental measurements in these fields have influenced models of the possible antibaryon composition of the Universe. This talk will chronicle the history of concepts concerning antimatter in the Universe. Included will be a discussion of the limits present experimental results have placed on the existence of large scale region of antimatter in the Universe. Possible connections between the abundance of cosmic ray antiprotons and positrons and other fields of physics will also be discussed.
