A modification of Dorman's (1963) spectrographic method is applied to a computer analysis of Forbush effects recorded at Irkutsk in November 1970, January 1971, and May, June, and August 1972. Analysis of the behavior of Dst variations shows that the magnetospheric disturbances during these decreases differed in nature and in magnitude. The respective data are diagrammed and tabulated. Analysis of the variations of cosmic rays of interplanetary origin show that the spectral index during Forbush decreases varies within the range from -0.6 to -1.7. This indicates that the structure of the magnetic field differs in the shock wave region. The arithmetic mean value of the spectral index is -1 for the seven cases studied.
