A measurement of the directional distribution of cosmic ray muons, at the latitude of Stockholm (Sweden), is reported. In fitting the measured flux to a simple analytical expression, the distribution was found to be symmetric around a line approximately to the northwest at 4.2 + or - 0.7 degrees from zenith. The east-west asymmetry amounted to a difference in the total intensity of 20 + or - 4 percent at the zenith angle of 45 degrees. The spectra of energies deposited by the muons in a BGO (Bismuth Germanate) detector orientated at different angles, are obtained through a Monte Carlo simulation, where the muon distribution is used as a weight function for sampling muons in different directions.
