Streaming cosmic rays generate a weakly turbulent anisotropic population of magnetohydrodynamic waves in the interstellar medium. Nonlinear three-wave interactions are used to investigate the time evolution of the waves. It is shown that interactions among Alfven and fast magnetosonic waves are incapable of producing a steady state with a fully anisotropic source of turbulence. The numerical computation, including interactions with slow magnetosonic waves results in a steady-state spectrum dominated by these latter interactions. This supports the previous neglect of interactions between Alfven and fast magnetosonic waves.
