Low-l polarization measures can remove the degeneracy between primordial spectral index (ns) and reionization opacity (τ). Using a large set of model realizations we test how cosmic variance possibly limits this removal. A detailed likelihood analysis shows that, if τ~0.17 (WMAP best-fit value), both τ and ns can be significantly constrained by a polarization experiment with a sensitivity similar to SPOrt.
