A description of the various natural sources of electromagnetic radio noise was given, including the nature of the various types of noise generated. Some of these have a very broad, continuous spectrum (such as the noise from galaxies or radio sources), while others have intermittent, irregular spectra (such as the noise from solar or Jovian flares, pulsars). The average characteristics of the various parts of the spectra generated by these sources were given, including their perturbing effects on ground communication.
