The Parkes Pulsar Timing Array project aims to detect correlated signals in the timing residuals of 20 millisecond pulsars. These correlations will be used to study terrestrial clock errors, planetary ephemeris errors, and gravitational waves (GWs). An isotropic GW background can be detected by looking for correlations between the timing residuals of multiple pulsars. TEMPO2 is used to simulate the effect of GWs and show how the sensitivity of the array depends on the number of pulsars and the sampling.
