Comparison of the radio and optical variability of the extragalactic
radio source NGC 1275 (Perseus A) for 1966-1978 shows that the optical
variability is 2.2 yr ahead of the slow radio component at 1-10 mm
wavelength and 5.5 yr ahead at 2.8 cm wavelength. These radio delays
suggest that the optical and radio emission come from different regions.
