Two new optical parameters of the lunar surface are analyzed which characterize the global heterogeneities of the surface porosity and the chemical-mineralogical composition of the soil. The new parameters are studied on the basis of the results of an investigation of the correlation between the albedo and the coefficient of the maximum degree of polarization using data of discrete measurements and through an electronic-analog analysis of photographs of the moon obtained using a polarization light filter. The article combines and generalizes the results of several projects carried out at the Astronomical Observatory of Khar'kov State University and at the Department of Lunar Research of the Shternberg State Astronomical Institute.
