Fairchild (1977) claimed to have pointed out an error in Segal's (1976) chronometric redshift theory and offered a corrected result. In the present paper it is argued that Fairchild is in error with respect to both the 'corrected result' and certain secondary issues. Arguments are presented to show that there is actually no error in Segal's original derivation of the redshift-distance relation from the chronometric principle.
