The paper proposes a method for the correction of a model of the ionosphere or a radio channel from the viewpoint of radio propagation according to oblique sounding (OS) data (e.g., from the subauroral Moscow-Noril'sk path). The input parameter for the model is an effective analog of the Wolf number, which is a function of both solar and magnetic activity. Results obtained with a corrected ionosphere model are compared with actual OS ionograms, and good agreement is found.
