The Wang Sheeley Arge (WSA) model is an important tool that is routinely used by forecaster’s to predict the solar wind days in advance. The addition of the Coronal hole Analysis Tool or CAT will provide forecasters with a quicker and much easier way of determining the overall agreement between the observed solar coronal hole configuration with that predicted by the WSA model. The CAT tool will indicate the photospheric field neutral line transitions and show forecasters where, according to the model, the solar wind observed currently at Earth is magnetically connected to its coronal source region back at the Sun, as well as in twenty-four hour increments three days in advance.
