One of the most important processes controlling the evolution of warm-hot gas is its interaction with cooler gas. The cooling rate of the gas will be quite low in general but can be higher by several orders of magnitude in regions where it interacts with colder gas. An example of this interaction may be seen in the O VI containing high velocity clouds (HVCs). I will discuss the different forms the interaction of the hot gas and cooler gas might take including turbulent mixing, thermal evaporation and radiative cooling/condensation and the implications and diagnostics of these interactions.
