Neutron Stars: Equation Of State, Neutron Stars: Strange Matter, Neutron Stars: Dense Matter

Scientific paper

Conversion of neutron stars with different equations of state to strange stars with different equations of state has been studied in this paper. For a hot neutron star, the conversion could lead to a great change of the period of the pulsar. The magnitude of the change is largely determined by the equation of state of neutron matter, and the duration of the change is strongly dependent upon the equation of state of strange matter. For a cold neutron star, the conversion could result in a γ-ray burst.
