DE2-satellite data are correlated with an electric-field potential model, and it is shown that four- and three-eddy convection schemes with Bz greater than 0 may be a consequence of the nonunique extrapolation of the satellite data to the entire high-latitude region. The model predicts the presence of two-eddy convection, with eddies on the day and night sides of the high-latitude region and a complex distribution of convection in the day sector of the polar cap.
