The extent to which molecular clouds subject to cosmic ray irradiation simulate the observed gamma-ray sources has been examined on a statistical basis. Results suggest that 55 + or - 25% of the sources with fluxes above 100 MeV and absolute latitude less than 10 deg can be expected to be identified with molecular clouds irradiated by cosmic rays.
