The photographic layer constitutes the most significant tool of astronomy for the preservation of a multitude of individual items of information concerning an astronomical object. The stored information is evaluated by means of density determinations conducted either with the aid of optical-technical devices or with the help of laboratory processes. A utilization of diffraction devices and a photochemical laboratory process make it possible to obtain information in connection with the resolution of very fine details of the photographic image. The operations involved in an application of the considered approaches are discussed together with the results obtained with the aid of these methods.
