The galaxy NGC 3031 (M 81) has been mapped at the wavelength of 6 cm using a 100-m radio telescope. At this wavelength the beamwidth is 2.6 which gives sufficient resolution to see some of the structure of the galaxy. The map is compared with a similar 21 cm map of M81 to investigate the spectral index and hence the contribution of H II regions.
