Planetary motion in visual binary star systems with eccentricity of about 0.5 was studied with the representative case of the Alpha Centauri A-B system. With the requirements for near circular orbit established for a planet analogous to earth revolving about A, parametric studies were undertaken to establish the nature of departures from Keplerian motion. Transfer orbits to the neighboring star B were studied, and a critical velocity for transfer to B or retention by A was obtained. A discussion of analytical and empirical models is provided, including some of the astrophysical aspects of the problem.
