We propose two 84 ksec pointings at the radio brighter western lobe of Fornax A. By detecting inverse Compton emission from low frequency synchrotron radiating electrons, we can determine their numbers and energy distribution. Detection of thermal emission from the surrounding gas will constrain the pressure (total energy) of the lobe. Together with data on the radio synchrotron emission, this will enable us to place the tightest possible constraints on the properties of the lobe plasma.
