A holographic control channel is proposed for a constant monitoring of the surface shape of the main mirror as well as the relative positioning and shape of other elements of a telescope system. Holographic optical elements (HOE), deposited onto the main mirror of the telescope, serve as the basis of this control channel. Questions associated with choosing the frequency and the profile shape of the HOE structure are considered. A paraxial analysis is made of the recording of the HOE and the operation of the control channel. The schematic for recording the HOE is given.
