The method of construction of periodic orbits from an asynchronous or from a nonperiodic generating family is extended to systems other than perturbed integrable systems. Some numerical examples are presented within the framework of the elliptical restricted three-body problem in space, in order to study the correspondence between the initial orbit and the periodic orbit obtained. In the capture case most of these orbits present some of the peculiar features of the observed short-period comets.
