An expression is derived for the radial-velocity dispersion of stars in an inhomogeneous, differentially rotating model stellar disk of finite thickness, which would serve to suppress the instability of arbitrary nonaxisymmetric perturbations. The dispersion relation for small oscillations in the plane of the model is given in the WKB approximation, and expressions for the critical stellar radial-velocity dispersion are presented for factors such as differential rotation, finite thickness, and nonuniformity of disk parameters.
