Exoplanet transit and radial velocity observations have begun to probe a planetary size range - between 1 and 15 Earth masses - for which there are no analogs within the solar system. We have developed a method to quantify how much can be robustly inferred about the interior anatomy of a transiting low-mass exoplanet from measurements of its mass and radius. In this presentation, we will discuss the prospects for distinguishing between three end-member composition scenarios: ocean planets, mini-Neptunes, and rocky super-Earths. We will present quantitative constraints on the interior compositions of known low-mass transiting planets, including CoRoT-7b, GJ 436b and HAT-P-11b.
