We present constraints on fluctuations in the optical extragalactic background from analyses of the Hubble Deep Field North and South. To test for the statistical signature of previously undetected sources, we estimate the auto, cross, and color correlations of the "sky" in the HDF's that remains after masking objects brighter than I814 = 30mag. The resulting upper limits on fluctuations in the optical EBL yield strong constraints on the properties of galaxies that evade direct detection by the HDF observations and imply that the sources of most of the optical EBL have been directly detected in these data.
