Pulsar timing observations are used to place constraints on the merger rate of supermassive black hole binaries as a function of mass and red shift. Constraints are placed using currently available data from the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array project. Future constraints are estimated for various different scenarios including observations made with the Square Kilometer Array.
