Under the assumption that type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) are produced from the thermonuclear disruption of a C-O white dwarf at or near the Chandrasekhar mass, and the amount of ^{56}Ni synthesized to first order determines the peak luminosity (Arnett's Rule), we place a lower limit on the Hubble constant independent of the extragalactic distance ladder. By coupling observations of SNe Ia with results obtained from numerical simulations we find an absolute 3σ lower limit of H_{circ} > 50 km s^{-1} Mpc^{-1}}. This constraint on H_{circ} is compatible with results obtained from recent CMB measurements, distant SNe Ia and the oldest known stars, and excludes ages of the universe predicted by an Einstein De-Sitter model.
