Attention is given to the internal consistency of the quasi-stationary approximation for narrow transition fronts in accretion discs with respect to ordering by the smallness parameter: width of the transition over disc radius. Claims of inconsistency are shown to result only from neglecting terms proportional to the front width in an equation which relates these terms to another term of the same order of magnitude. It is further pointed out that artificial smoothing in transition fronts can lead to unphysical values for front velocities. Instead, transition fronts must be numerically resolved for reliable results in accretion disc problems.
