The results of radio observations of optical H II regions in the CO line (J = 1 - 0) are discussed. Arguments are given which testify the genetic connection of H II regions with molecular clouds. It has been shown that the absence of the associated CO emission in some H II regions can be explained as a consequence of either observational selection (low surface brightness) or the fact that the corresponding H II regions are excited by OB stars which have already left their "placental" molecular clouds. The genetic connection of optical H II regions with molecular clouds can be considered as an evidence in favour of the idea that the molecular clouds are components of stellar associations.
