We request a single night with the KPNO 4-meter using the multi- slit configuration of CryoCam with Grism 730 to determine the redshifts of three galaxies that are likely to be associated with the strong, kinematically complex absorbing gas observed at z~ 0.9 in the spectrum of the quasar PG 1206+459. The gas producing the extensive absorption line system is unsually rich in absorption by heavy ions, including measured absorption by MgII, FeII, SiII, CII, NII, SiIII, NIII, SiIV, CIV, NV, and OVI (as seen in HIRES/Keck and FOS/HST spectra). In our previous study, we determined that if the three galaxies are at the same redshift as the absorbing complex they must be embedded in near-solar metallicity, highly ionized, coronae. We aim to establish whether or not these three galaxies are associated with the absorption systems, which is critical to the exploitation of this unique system (of 50 studied) for exploring an early-epoch galaxy environment. This system can be placed in the context of scenarios of the production, chemical enrichment, and sustanence of extended highly ionized gas (coronae) around early-epoch galaxies.
