Simultaneous conjugate observations (balloon) of bremsstrahlung X rays and VLF emissions at L of about 4.0 are analyzed. The interhemispheric timing accuracy of the different data was maintained to within 10 ms. Results show a detailed correlation in two events between electron microbursts in the energy range of 50-200 keV and chorus elements in the frequency range of 2-4 kHz, observed at ionospheric conjugate points of the geomagnetic field. Based upon a comparative analysis with previous studies it is concluded that microburst generation regions are located near the equator on subauroral field lines, but may extend to higher magnetic latitudes along the field line for larger L values.
