We have used configuration interaction wavefunctions to look at the mixing between the 2p3d1F0 and 2s4f1F0 states in N IV. We conclude that the classification of these two states should be interchanged. We have also calculated the lifetimes of the 2s4f1F0 and 2p3d1F0 states. We give reasons why the lifetime of the 2p3d1F0state should be much shorter than the lifetime of the 2s4f1F0 state.
