A computer simulation is performed of the accumulation of planetesimals into terrestrial planets. The model of the early solar system used is based on the studies by Zheng and Zhou (1980, 1981). The results reveal that, through the process of collisional coalescence, the planetesimals accreted into a small number of large planets moving in nearly coplanar circular orbits. With a suitable choice of initial orbital elements and system parameters, the results are in general agreement with the actual system. With an increasing number of collisions, the overall system flattens into a very thin disk. As the collisions proceed, the number of individuals decreases and the collisions become less frequent. The results are in qualitative agreement with those of Whetherill (1981), even though the initial parameters and method of calculation are different.
