Meteoroids: Fragmentation, Tunguska Event
Scientific paper
The author describes the methods and formulas proposed by Grigoryan (1979) for computing fragmentation of large (>1 m) meteoroids. He uses the Tunguska meteorite to study the dependence of the height at which a meteoroid undergoes catastrophic disintegration (explosion) on the various parameters of the initial body (density, tensile strength) and its trajectory (angle of incidence). He also studies the effect of evaporation.
