Two impulsive flares were observed on 1991 June 9 and 11 by the COMPTEL instrument on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. Both flares exhibited emissions of gamma -rays and neutrons above 1 MeV and 15 MeV, respectively. The neutron emission from the June 9 flare was consistent in time with the emission of the gamma -rays, i.e. the impulsive phase. The nature and spectrum of the gamma -ray emission was also consistent with solar flares measured by the Gamma Ray Spectrometer on the Solar Maximum Mission. The gamma -ray emission on June 11 extended beyond the impulsive phase into a more gradual phase with an attendant evolution of the gamma -ray spectrum. For the June 11 flare there is no compelling evidence of emission in the MeV range on the time scale of hours as reported by Kanbach et al. (1992). Preliminary results will be presented on the gamma -ray and neutron emissions from both flares.
