Empirical fits of B-V color and Bolometric Correction as functions of temperature are used to generate lines of constant luminosity and radius in the (Mv, B-V) plane. These lines are then overlaid on an HR diagram of some 400 apparently bright and nearby stars to yield a composite observational-theoretical diagram. Further, the points representing the stars are color-coded according as temperature.
