A time analysis of the coronal index data is presented, and a more detailed and complex analytical method for interpreting the results of the time analysis is developed. Autocorrelation analysis, complex demodulation, and sequential ranging of data in Bartels rotations are the three analytical methods used in order to estimate the recurrence period statistically at each instant of the investigated time series. It is found that the detected shifts of activity in longitude may be explained by the generation of new activity in the neighborhood of the old one, extending in one direction and associated with the character of the convection of subphotospheric matter and with the generation of subphotospheric magnetic fields.
