Stark Broadening: Helium Lines, Stark Broadening: Plasma
Scientific paper
The purpose of this paper is to reconsider a model of theoretical calculation treatment of the Stark broadening which only satisfactorily fits the experimental profiles of the 4471 Å He(I) emitted for plasma parameters: Te = 30,000 K, Ne > 1018cm-3. From the simultaneous studies of the two lines at 6678 and 4471 Å He(I), gradually emerges a "quasi-universal" model with which it is possible to link any emission level by putting screening upper-cut-off ρmax and numerical values of plasma parameters (Ne,Te) into use. The results, which cover a large range of values of (Ne,Te) pairs, are in very good agreement with the most recent experimental data. This model ought to allow suitable experimental forecasts for other values of plasma parameters.
