Methods Of Reduction: Polar Motion

The least-squares collocation method, the Whittaker-Robinson-Vondrak, the cubic spline and the least-squares method are compared. The smoothing by these methods was applied to the 5-day polar motion data (IERS, 1993) in the period 2443989 JD (April 25, 1979) - 2445984 JD (October 10, 1984); the number of the input data was N = 400. Some results of smoothing and comparison are presented.
