The nutation theory must, on one hand, predict the nutation angles from the dynamical equations on base of parameters of the Earth's inner structure. On the other hand, the theory can help to obtain more precise estimation of these parameters on the base of the observed nutation angles. The nutation series IAU2000, ZP2003 (Zharov and Pasynok), GF1999 (Getino and Ferrándiz) that were compared in this work use different approaches. The parameters of the Earth's inner structure, improved numerical values for the precession rate of the equator in longitude δψ[A] and obliquity δω[A], the constant offsets ξ[0] and η[0] of the direction of the CIP at J2000.0 from the direction of the pole of the GCRS were estimated from the VLBI observations mainly from 1980 to 2000. From the statistical point of view the differences between theories are negligible but these theories predict different values of δψ[A], δω[A] and ξ[0] , η[0] (see table).
