The relation of stellar image diameters to stellar magnitude was studied in photographic plates obtained using eight different wide angle astrographs at observation sites across the USSR. It is found that the diameter ratios for instruments with focal lengths of 2-3 m were within the range 1.26-1.38 and were smaller than the focal length ratios. It is suggested that the observed increase in stellar image diameters is due not only to stellar image tremor, but also to other factors which are not related to angular fluctuations.
