Consideration is given the location accuracy of a point source in the fields of view of two telescopes having the same focal plane. It is shown that, for detectors sized so as to equal the distance to the first zero of the coherently added imaging system, simulated in the numerical tests, little difference in accuracy can be found between the adding of flux coherently and incoherently. The calculations presented are relevant to the design of IR telescopes for space applications, where strict off-axis rejection requirements, a wide field of view and good position location capabilities are important.
