Consideration is given to the use of strapdown inertial navigation systems for determining orientation. The comparative accuracy in terms of determining orientation of an algorithm based on the use of Rodrigues-Hamilton parameters and of an algorithm based on directing cosines is evaluated. The method involving Rodrigues-Hamilton parameters is found to be more advantageous.
