A qualitative investigation of a gravitating system of N bodies is carried out on the basis of the energy integral and its consequences. A sufficient condition of comparability of motion in terms of recurrence in time is established. Isochronicity, i.e., the mutual comparability in terms of recurrence in time of the kinetic energy and motion of the system, is shown to be a necessary condition of the Lagrange stability of this system.
