In a region of 11 square degrees around the cluster A 2255, 131 compact galaxies have been identified. The results of B and V photometry are given together with the equatorial coordinates in Table 1. It is found from the distribution of these compact galaxies around A 2255 that the cluster extends to a radius of about 20 arcmin. In their distribution of colors, the compact field galaxies differ from E and S0 galaxies.
