Morphological observations of a complete sample of B2 extragalactic radio sources of intermediate flux density which were previously detected at Jodrell Bank at 408 MHz and up to 0.3 arcsec resolution are presented. The present observations of 52 sources were made with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope at 5 GHz and a resolution of less than 8 arcsec. The WSRT observations show source structure with linear sizes larger than about 50 kpc in about half of the cases, with one third of these sources having more than 10% of their flux density in bright features of linear extent less than 2-3 kpc. For the unresolved sources, the previous observations indicate one third or more to be compact doubles, and most of the singles to have spectral indexes steeper than 0.5, probably due to a compact self-absorbed dominant component. A high-percentage of these steep spectrum sources is also found to be associated with empty fields or faint galaxies.
